TAMARA IS A LOSER- Short Story
TAMARA IS A LOSER
There was a girl in a small town who was very greedy. Her name was Tamara, she was brilliant in studies but still felt jealous when someone scored better than her. Her parents used to tease her for scoring less while she was the only one in the class, who scored better. One day when the whole class had gone for the assembly, she tried to open the bag of Samira, who was also a topper of the class. Tamara found her notes for the upcoming exam. She thought that if she steals her notebook, Samira would not be able to pass her exams. She not only steals it, but also burns it while she is on the way to her house. After few weeks the exams started. During the exam, Tamara was busy watching at Samira's table and didn’t attempt the questions properly. But Samira looked very focused and confident but not at all panic. Tamara assumed that Samira is acting. But just in few months when the results came out. All the toppers were called out one by one, according to who is at the 10th place and who is at the 1st. When the 3rd position was announced, Tamara’s name was called out and she felt proud. But she was curious to know who is in the first position. Ever since that day, things have changed and she is in the mental hospital.
Yes, it was Samira in the first place and when she stood up and walked towards the door, Tamara was devastated and ran out of the class. She jumped from the second floor of the school building and broke her back.
This story is not about Tamara’s greed or Samira’s excellence. This is the story about the pressure that parents give to their children.
If only Tamara’s parents had ever praised her for what she was capable of, they could have had whole piece of her and peace in her life. Samira had nothing to lose, if she made those notes using her mind and knowledge, she could do it again. Tamara isn’t a loser but her parents made her believe that she is.
